Plan to improve Radio Pakistan programmes
LAHORE: Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Pakistan) a pioneer institution in country, has tailored an ambitious plan to further improve quality of all programmes and revival of dramas to restore its pristine glory of decency.
Director General, PBC, Samina Pervaiz told APP here Sunday that Radio Pakistan has its unique history and played a key role in creating awareness among the masses besides providing recreational and entertainment programmes coupled with most popular urdu drama studded with hourly new bulletins.
She said that still Radio is commands majority audience worldwide and will continue to dominate in the days to come as it reaches at such far flung places where no other means of communication is available.
DG said: “We have evolved an ambitious plan to introduce new drama, revival of urdu dramas, interviews of legends, music concert, production of English language programmes for FM 94, revival of running cricket commentary in English, digitization of archival material”.
Samina Pervaiz said that “drama hour” on national hook up will be aired regularly from 9.pm to 10 pm. She said that culture of different provinces and regions will also be promoted through various programmes in local langauge.
She said that FM 93, 94 and 101 are also made available on internet through satellite network.
She said that the quality of world, external and foreign services will also be further improved to meet the demands of listeners.
The DG said that all out efforts will be made on top priority that all listeners must have access to Radio Pakistan and for this purpose, high capacity transmitters will be installed nationwide in a phased programme.
Samina Pervaiz said that Radio Pakistan will continue to dominate as family channel without compromising its quality and decency. She said that Radio Pakistan is the only channel in whole of the country which air all its programmes in all regional languages as well.
She said that some of its decades old sections badly needed overhauling to meet the future challenges. She said that with the passage of time, Radio Pakistan will again become one of the best institution in the country in terms of educating the masses, entertainment, recreations and new bulletins.
